While on holiday on Skye the highland cows were roaming free right at the side of the track we were driving along.

This is the silverback of a troop of Gorillas living at Disneys Animal Kingdom, Florida.  He watched our every move.

This painting is based on a photo taken last July in the lazy river at Discovery Cove, Florida.

It has taken me six weeks at my Art Class to complete, longest I have ever spent on one painting….so far!

Lazy Days, acrylic

Spent a lovely short break painting and reading art books in early March.

These are a couple of the finished pieces.

During the snow and frost this winter I took numerous pictures. I was attracted to these berries by their vivid orange colour.

Last Easter I visited Monkey World in Dorset and took lots of photos.

This is Sally, I have also painted an Orang-utan which is in the gallery.

I used a mixture of soft and hard pastels on pastel paper for my painting of this stag in water. Although I have blending tools I much prefer just to use my fingers.

The photo that I worked from is super and can be viewed at http://www.flickr.com/photos/billmagphoto/, thanks to Bill for allowing me to use it.

Acrylic on canvas

I was inspired to try my hand at an abstract painting after a holiday to Turkey.

During a visit to a carpet factory I saw a handmade rug displaying

a Kandinsky design and I liked the way the lines and shapes encouraged my eye to move round the picture.

I named this painting cocktails as one of my fellow evening class students commented that it reminded them of cocktails and straws.
